SSR Performance wants to finally win the DTM crown at the third attempt

50th DTM race for SSR Performance at the season finale

Munich, 14.10.2024. The time has come next weekend: SSR Performance is set for the all-important DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring (October 18-20). Mirko Bortolotti (Italy) travels to the season finale in southern Germany as the leader with a 15-point lead and has the chance to bring both SSR Performance and Lamborghini their first DTM title. The Munich-based team will also be celebrating its fiftieth start in the DTM at Sunday’s race. “It’s been a season of highs and lows. Now it’s time to reward ourselves for all the hard work. One last push from the entire team, one last weekend full of focus for everyone involved, then hopefully we will achieve our goal at the third attempt and write ourselves into the 40-year history of the DTM. Of course, we are hoping for a fair SRO car classification and an exciting title fight,” says team owner Stefan Schlund.

As in previous years, the Hockenheimring is traditionally the venue for the DTM season finale. The 4.574-kilometer track in Baden-Württemberg/Germany is the longest circuit on the calendar and Bortolotti finished second here last year. With a current 15-point lead and 56 points still up for grabs (25 points per win and three points per pole position), he could clinch the championship early on Saturday. SSR Performance’s second Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 will be driven by Le Mans winner Nicki Thiim (Denmark), who secured the first win of the season for Stefan Schlund’s team in their home race at the Norisring. “It’s time for us to fight for the title. Everyone knows that it will be a challenging weekend and that any mistake is fatal. Accordingly, everyone in the team is 100 percent focused. Mirko also knows what needs to be done. The championship has been our goal from the start and this year we will take our chance,” says team boss Mario Schuhbauer optimistically.

A 60-minute sprint race is scheduled for the SSR Performance Crew at the season finale on Saturday and Sunday. ProSieben will broadcast the exciting title showdown live on German free-to-air TV on both days from 1pm. All other sessions will also be available free of charge on ran.de, Joyn and YouTube.
